- What is the Khumo Programme?- The Khumo Programme is an intensive enterprise development programme which is sponsored by Assmang Ltd – Khumani Iron Ore. The objectives of the Khumo Programme are to develop sustainable smme’s, foster supply chain diversification, create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and promote statutory compliance. 
- What does the Khumo Programme include?- Non-financial assistance in the form of mentoring and essential business development interventions, as well financial assistance in the form of developmental capital. 
- How long is the Programme?- 6 Months 
- How does the selection process work?- Companies respond to the Request for Information (RFI) by submitting the required documentation.
- Companies who have responded to the RFI are provided with an application form to complete and submit.
- A selection process takes place which includes an evaluation of the application forms and required documentation, as well as the requirements and strategic objectives of the Khumo Programme.
- A selected number of applicants are invited for an interview and assessment process, after which the final group of qualifying beneficiaries are selected.
 
- Does the completion of the application form automatically include my company in the Khumo Programme?- No, the completion of the application form does not guarantee that you will be selected or automatically include your company in the Khumo Programme. 
- Will I be contacted if my application is unsuccessful?- Due to the high volume of applicants, we can unfortunately not contact each individual applicant. If you are not contacted, please consider your application to be unsuccessful. 
- I just started my company – Can I apply for the Khumo Programme?- Unfortunately not – The Khumo Programme is for companies who have been operational and trading for 12-months or more. 
- I am already a registered vendor / supplier to Khumani Mine – Can I apply for the Khumo Programme?- Unfortunately not – The Khumo Programme is an enterprise development programme for companies who are not currently suppliers to Khumani Mine. 
- I do not have a BBBEE-Affidavit / Certificate – Can I apply for the Khumo Programme?- Unfortunately not – Only companies with 51% or more black ownership with a valid BBBEE-Affidavit issued by CIPC or a valid sector specific BBBEE-Affidavit / Certificate will be considered. 
- My turnover is more than R50-Million per year – Can I apply for the Kumo Programme?- Unfortunately not – The Khumo Programme is for companies who have an annual turnover of less than R50-Million and who are classified as an EME or QSE as per the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice. 
- I am not situated in the Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana and Tsatsabane local Municipalities – Can I apply for the Khumo Programme?- Unfortunately not – The Khumo Programme is for companies who are situated in the Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana and Tsatsabane local municipalities, with proof of address. 
- I do not provide catering - construction - cleaning services – Can I apply for the Khumo Programme?- No! Only companies providing construction, catering, and cleaning services will be considered. 
- What is expected from me if I am selected?- Your commitment to a mentoring session of 1 – 2 hours per week, completing assignments, as well as occasional workshops for the duration of the programme.
